Enza Zaden Africa Ltd is a horticultural company that produces high-quality hybrid seeds. These seeds are exported to the mother company in the Netherlands, then re-exported globally under the Enza Zaden logo.

Position: Assistant Production Manager – Nursery
Reports to: Production Manager
Type: Staff Position
Location: Nduruma, Arusha, Tanzania

Objective of the Role

To oversee and execute all activities related to the life cycle of small production material—from nursery to seed extraction—ensuring adherence to protocols, timely execution, and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nursery operations, including sowing, germination monitoring, and transplanting.
• Maintain accurate germination records and generate timely crop performance reports.
• Coordinate and manage crop cycle changes, including preparing clean growing media and implementing strict hygiene standards.
• Oversee block planting as per layout plans.
• Plan and manage labour schedules, including weekends and public holidays.
• Ensure training and compliance with protocols.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Knowledge of seed production processes, including pollination, emasculation, and seed extraction.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a greenhouse setting.
• Proven ability to supervise and guide teams to ensure high performance.
• Basic understanding of stock management systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with both local and international teams.
• Proficiency in computer applications and related agricultural software.
