Job Summary
Tarime Town Council invites applications from qualified and capable Tanzanian citizens to fill two (2) vacant positions of Cook Grade II. This position is crucial in ensuring proper meal preparation, cleanliness of kitchen environments, and support to food service operations within government institutions under the council's administration. The cook is expected to demonstrate professionalism, hygiene awareness, and an understanding of nutrition and food safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties, among others:

Cleaning the Kitchen Area:
Ensure that the kitchen and surrounding food preparation areas are kept clean and hygienic at all times before, during, and after cooking. -
Preparing and Cooking Various Meals:
Cook a wide variety of meals, including local and international dishes, depending on the menu requirements or institutional needs. -
Maintaining Clean Cooking Utensils:
Ensure that all kitchen tools, cooking pots, pans, plates, knives, and other equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after use. -
Preparing a Balanced Diet Menu:
Participate in developing menus that offer balanced diets, ensuring meals served contain all essential nutrients in appropriate portions to promote good health. -
Cooking Professional Meals:
Apply professional culinary techniques to prepare nutritious and well-presented meals, following food industry standards and safety practices. -
Timely Meal Preparation:
Ensure that all meals are prepared and served punctually according to scheduled meal times or special events. -
Ensuring Food and Kitchen Safety:
Take all necessary precautions to guarantee the safety of the food being prepared and stored, including proper handling of ingredients, temperature control, and fire safety measures in the kitchen. -
Performing Other Duties:
Carry out any other related tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor or relevant authority within the institution.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for this position:

Academic Background:
Must have completed Ordinary Secondary Education (Form IV) or Advanced Secondary Education (Form VI). -
Professional Training:
Must hold a Certificate or Technician Certificate (Astashahada) in Food Production or Culinary Arts, obtained from a government-recognized institution. -
Other Key Attributes:
- Good personal hygiene and cleanliness
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions
- Physical fitness to handle kitchen duties
- Basic knowledge of nutrition and menu planning
- Responsibility and punctuality in work delivery
