Overview
The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS), operating under the President’s Office of the United Republic of Tanzania, is inviting qualified Tanzanians to apply for employment opportunities in local government institutions. Currently, Geita District Council is offering two (2) vacancies for the role of Office Management Secretary II.
This position is well-suited for organized, self-motivated individuals who possess excellent administrative and communication skills and are looking to serve in a dynamic office environment within the public sector.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
If selected for this role, the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:

Typing Official Documents – This includes drafting and typing general correspondence, official reports, confidential documents, and other office materials with speed and accuracy.

Front Desk Operations – Welcoming visitors, addressing inquiries, and guiding clients or guests to relevant departments for assistance.

Maintaining Office Records – Organizing and updating schedules, appointment logs, meeting dates, travel arrangements for supervisors, and general work plans.

File Management – Locating, retrieving, and organizing files and documents essential for daily operations and official duties.

Mail and File Distribution – Receiving incoming mail and documentation, then ensuring timely distribution to respective officers or departments.

Archiving and Safeguarding Records – Responsible for storing, retrieving, and returning physical and digital records to appropriate sections.

Meeting Preparation – Compiling agendas, preparing briefing notes, and ensuring necessary logistics for various internal and external meetings.

Stationery and Supplies Management – Drafting procurement lists and maintaining stock of required office equipment and supplies.

Additional Tasks – Carrying out any other administrative functions as assigned by the supervisor or department head.
Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following academic and professional criteria:
- Completion of either Form Four (O-Level) or Form Six (A-Level) education.
- Possession of a Diploma in Office Management (Uhazili) or a recognized NTA Level 6 Certificate in secretarial studies.
- Proficiency in typing at a minimum speed of 100 words per minute, in both Swahili and English shorthand.
- Must have received training in basic computer applications, including:
- Microsoft Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Internet and Email usage
- Publisher
- All certifications and training must be obtained from institutions accredited by the Government of Tanzania.
Salary and Benefits
The selected candidates will receive compensation based on the TGS C Salary Scale, as regulated by the government pay structure. In addition to salary, employment includes other statutory benefits provided to public servants in Tanzania.
