New Government Salary Structure Announced for 2025

The Government of Tanzania has unveiled a new salary structure for public servants, effective from July 2025. This reform, guided by the Public Service Salary and Incentive Policy 2025, aims to improve employee welfare and boost service delivery across government sectors.

Minimum Wage Rises by 35.1%

Starting July 1, 2025, the minimum monthly salary in the public sector will increase from TZS 370,000 to TZS 500,000, marking a significant 35.1% rise. This is one of the largest salary adjustments in recent years and is designed to support lower-income workers and improve job retention.

Updates to Parliamentary Salary Scale (PSS)

Revisions have also been made to the Parliamentary Service Salary Scale (PSS). Most grades will receive moderate increments, maintaining alignment with national economic goals and employee development strategies.

Private Sector Under Review

The Minimum Wage Board is currently reviewing private sector pay scales to reflect inflation and cost-of-living trends. New guidelines are expected soon and will help balance equity across public and private employment.

Employers Required to Comply

All public institutions are required to implement these new salary levels immediately. This move reinforces the government’s focus on fairness, transparency, and improved employee motivation.
