SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania is a child-focused NGO affiliated with SOS Children’s Villages International. Since 1991, the organization has provided care and support for children in need across Zanzibar, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, and Iringa. It promotes a family-based approach, child protection, and sustainable community support systems.


🧑‍💼 Position: Program Manager

Reports to: Head of Programs
Job Type: Full-Time
Duty Station: Mwanza

The Program Manager oversees the development and implementation of SOS programs, manages staff and resources, ensures alignment with organizational policies, and liaises with government and partners.


✅ Key Responsibilities

  1. Programme Management:

    • Lead program planning and execution aligned with SOS standards
    • Ensure efficient use of resources and report program performance
  2. Human Resource Management:

    • Manage and support program staff
    • Oversee performance evaluation and team development
  3. Financial Oversight:

    • Supervise budget planning and expenditures
    • Ensure cost-effective service delivery
  4. Monitoring & Evaluation:

    • Ensure adherence to national/international quality standards
    • Track audit results and implement improvements
  5. Partnerships & Advocacy:

    • Represent SOS in stakeholder engagements and forums
    • Foster collaboration with authorities and civil society
  6. Fundraising & Public Relations:

    • Identify funding opportunities
    • Develop proposals and maintain donor relations

📚 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Sociology, Child Development, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • At least 7 years’ experience, including 4–5 years in a managerial NGO role
  • Experience in project management, fundraising, M&E, and staff supervision
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Fluency in English and Swahili
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage diverse teams
